DAY 1 • The City

Located in the center-south of Cuba, the province of Cienfuegos has a Historic Center recognized as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage since 2005. It is the only Cuban city that was born to foreign parents, mostly French, from Louisiana, hence its French-style atmosphere well-preserved in our days. Thiscity tour enables the visitor to enjoy the beauty of the sea that bathes its boardwalk, and the coasts of an urbanization with a perfectly regular layout, full of palaces, domes and long promenades in the most European-style.

9.00 am

Arrival at ParqueMartí, the City’s foundational site. You can see the only ‘Arc de Triomphe’ that exists in Cuba. In the area surrounding the park you can find the Ferrer Palace; the Tomás Terry Theater, a 19th-century palace originally conserved; the House of Luis De Clouet, French captain founder of the city; the Cathedral Church of the Immaculate Conception and the College of San Carlos from the early 20th-century.

Moving forward along the Prado Cienfueguero (the longest promenade in Cuba) we go from ParqueMartí to the Boulevard, we can see the life-sized statue of Benny Moré, the biggest music star in the city and one of the Cuban most important musicians.

10.30 am

Located at the southern end of the promenade, El Palacio de Valle, is a unique building in Cuba due to the mixture of so many architectural styles. Very close and crowning one of the ends of the promenade a statue of Rita Longa, one of the most important sculptors of our country.

10.50 am

Visit to CementerioTomásAceawhere stands out a huge building in the purest Doric style. It is the only cemetery in Cuba still practicing the garden burial system.

11.15 am

Visit to the Botanical Garden of Cienfuegos. Declared a National Monument in 1985. This is one of the most important research centers on tropical plants worldwide. It has one of the most complete Palms collections in the continent and more than 1450 species of marked botanical interest. (3 hours)

2.15 pm

Visit to the Castillo de Jagua. Located at the entrance to the Bay, this castle is strategically based at the entrance to the Port of Cienfuegos.It was built in the eighteenth century (1745) to defend the city against the attacks of pirates and filibusters.

2.30 pm

Lunch at “La Casa del Pescador“, a restaurant located on the pier where you can enjoy a seafood menu.

3.30 pm

Time for lodging in the city. Recommended hotels by MAC: Hotel Union, Ciervo de Oro and Hotel Palacio Azul.

5.30 pm

In the afternoon and as the culmination of the tour, we propose a tripalong the calm waters of theBay of Jagua, one of the most beautiful bag-typebaysof Cuba. This tour will allow you to enjoy the provincial territory and see the city from another perspective, as well as enjoying one of the most beautiful natural spectacles, the sunset.

7.00 pm

Dinner at Camila’s Restaurant or Paladar Aché.

DAY 2 • Jeep Tour

The province of Cienfuegos also has wonderful natural attractions. Among these are dozens of waterfalls, rivers, ponds of water that spring from a virtually virgin area among the mountains, as well as picturesque and cozy peasant villages that emerge from the coffee plantations that grow in these landscapes.

9.00 am

Departure from the chosen Hotel in 4X4 Jeeps along the Cienfuegos-Cumanayagua road toNatural Park El Nicho.

10.00 am

On the way there is a stop at Crucecita Viewpoint, in a small hamlet that constitutes a natural balcony with spectacular views, from which you can see the valley where the city of Cienfuegos is located.

10.30 am

Upon arriving at the Park, we startour 100m guided tour along an ecological trail. There will be enough time to bathe in natural pools and waterfalls.

12.30 pm

Creole lunch at El Nicho restaurant.

2.00 pm

The tour continues through the Guamuhaya mountain massif until we reach Topes de Collantes where we can visit the House-Museum of Coffee.

2.30 pm

Visit to theTrinidad Viewpoint. From here you can see the city and the Bay of Casilda.

3.00 pm

The tour continues to the city of Trinidad. You can choose to stay in this city or return to Cienfuegos by the southern circuit. This offers the opportunity ofbeholding the wonderful beaches of the Cuban south coast.
